Meet the Appraisers
Timothy B. Hogan, Certified General Appraiser, IFAS
Mr. Hogan’s experience and insight are drawn from 25 years of experience across previous market lows to unprecedented market highs. As an in-demand appraiser in New Jersey, he appraised unique properties such as waste-water facilities and churches as well as storm ravaged shoreline properties along the NJ and NY coast lines.
Mr. Hogan began his career as a residential staff appraiser shortly after the real estate crisis of the late 1980s. As a staff appraiser from 1991 to 2000, he was primarily responsible for appraising residential and small income properties in Monmouth and Ocean counties in NJ.
Mr. Hogan launched Hogan Appraisal LLC, in 2001. He began as a one-man, independent fee-appraiser shop and grew the family business into a full-service, statewide appraisal organization in NJ. From 2001 – 2009 Mr. Hogan managed daily operations, office staff, 12 field appraisers and appraisal volume up to 300 residential appraisals per month. It was during this time he earned his Certified Commercial Appraiser license in 4 states (NJ, NY, PA & FL) and earned his Certified Tax Assessor certificate for NJ.
In 2009, Mr. Hogan joined the US Army Corps of Engineers as the Lead Appraiser New York District. It was Mr. Hogan’s responsibility to lead the appraisal team as they fulfilled their mission to support the real estate division in their efforts of real property acquisition, disposal and civil works project support. In just 2 years, he personally completed 2 gross appraisals, 6 land appraisals, 2 updates, 16 leasing appraisals, 2 BRAC appraisals, 6 reviews and wrote 12 Scopes of Work. After Superstorm Sandy ravaged the New Jersey and New York shorelines, Mr. Hogan led the USACE appraisal team through the recovery process, managing multiple large scale appraisal projects.
Upon his departure from USACE, Mr. Hogan shifted the focus of Hogan Appraisal to project-based, buy-out programs. From 2014 through 2016, Hogan Appraisal worked on 6 large-scale buyout projects in northern New Jersey.
Mr. Hogan joined the Department of the Interior Office of Special Trustee in January of 2017 for a unique new challenge as the Regional Supervisory Appraiser leading a team of 5 staff appraisers and managing the Real Estate Appraisal program for the Rocky Mountain Region, covering Montana and Wyoming.
Barrie M. Hogan, Certified Residential Appraiser
Barrie Hogan has been a business partner since Hogan Appraisal's inception in 2001. She helped develop the quality control and business development mechanisms before earning her own real estate appraiser's license. Through the years she has developed her appraisal skills by assisting Timothy and other staff appraisers on appraisals of a variety of property types and purposes. As a fully licensed Certified Residential Appraiser, she brings a breadth of experience to each appraisal assignment.
